Ian Overton

Freelance Web Designer

I built my first website in 2007 while pursuing a degree in computing at university. It was a project that sparked my passion for web development and set me on the path toward a career in the digital world. At that time, I was deeply immersed in learning the technical aspects of computing, but little did I know that the creative and user-centric side of technology would truly captivate me.

After graduating, I ran my own IT support business. The work was fulfilling, but I soon noticed a recurring trend—many of my clients were struggling with their websites. Whether it was slow loading times, poor design, or frustrating user experiences, businesses were often stuck with websites that didn’t meet their needs. This is when the idea clicked for me. I realized that web design, not IT support, was where my true passion lay. I wanted to help businesses create websites that weren’t just functional, but that truly served their customers and allowed the company

I built my first website in 2007 while pursuing a degree in computing at university. That initial project not only ignited my enthusiasm for web development but also charted my course toward a dynamic career in the digital realm. During my studies, I immersed myself in the technical aspects of computing, yet I had no idea that the creative and user-centric dimensions of technology would become my true passion.

After graduation, I launched my own IT support business. While the experience was rewarding, I soon identified a pressing issue: many of my clients were struggling with their websites. Common challenges, such as slow loading times, poor design, and frustrating user experiences, left businesses with websites that fell short of their potential.

This observation inspired a pivotal realization. I understood that my real passion was in web design, not just IT support. I was determined to empower businesses to craft websites that were not merely functional but also truly resonated with their customers, fostering growth and success. My goal became clear: to create digital experiences that elevate brands and drive results.

That’s when I decided to take the leap and start my own freelance web design business, PixelWyse. I wanted to create websites that adhered to the “best practices” in design, focusing on clean, efficient code that not only looked good but also delivered exceptional performance. I believed that a well-structured website should load quickly, be easy to navigate, and be accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities or the devices they were using. In my view, coding wasn’t just about making a site work, but making it better, faster, more inclusive, and easier to maintain.

In my previous role, I witnessed first-hand how frustrating it can be for companies to deal with poorly designed websites. Clients would call me, overwhelmed by the challenges of maintaining their sites, dealing with slow load times, and constantly needing updates or fixes. I could relate to their frustration and knew I had the skills to solve these problems. As PixelWyse grows, my mission remains clear: to build websites that are not only visually appealing but also easy to maintain, scalable, and adaptable as businesses evolve. I want every business to have a website that serves as a solid foundation for future growth, helping them focus on what they do best while I handle the technical side.

Each website I create is a long-term investment in my clients’ success. I work closely with them to ensure their site is built to last, optimizing code for speed, designing with user experience in mind, and prioritizing accessibility at all times. The goal is simple: to create a website that is easy to manage, drives conversions, and evolves as the business grows. With PixelWyse, my aim is not just to design websites but to empower businesses with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape
